16/10/16 Straight From The Trainers Mouth

4:10 Kempton – My Tent Or Yours 8/11
I’m just a little bit nervous about the ground with MY TENT and I’ll just have to have a look and see but there is rain forecast, and as long as it’s not too much, that will be in our favour. Tent is in good form and ready for a run and we need to find somewhere to start with him and this is a nice race for the time of the year as there’s nothing else for a horse like him for another three or four weeks’ time, so it would be good to get a run into him but it will all very much depend on the ground.

4:10 Kempton – Hargam 7/1
Hargam has had a run already this season which will count for plenty (fitness-wise) this time of year. It was pretty soft ground there and he is entitled to have come on plenty for it, there is no doubt about that.

5:15 Kempton – Tower Of Allen 4/1
I quite like TOWER OF ALLEN and he makes his debut over hurdles in the 5:10. He’s a very good jumper and this is a good place to start therefore I’m hopeful he can leave his bumper form behind.

2:30 Kempton – Next Sensation 11/4
I’m riding Next Sensation at Kempton for my brother and I think he’ll win again. The ground and the conditions should suit him. The trip is two miles and two furlongs which I think will be absolutely ideal. He’s not the horse he was but the handicapper has been fair on him, and a horse he beat has since come out and won. He will probably have to step up a bit on what he achieved at Newton Abbot last time but I think the course and trip will suit him. He’s been put up 5lbs so would he have won last time with an additional 5lbs? I don’t know. But given the conditions will be in his favour on Sunday I’m optimistic. I think he’ll be hard to beat.

4:30 Kempton – Mr Miyagi 5/1
I suspect everyone has declared with the expectation that the rain is going to come. If they get a lot of rain and it goes really Good, then all the horses will run. It will be interesting to see if they only get some of the rain forecast how many hold their nerve and run. If it was just good but all over good I would run as Mister Miyagi wants decent ground. I took him out at Kelso because it was good to firm and I didn’t want to run him on that, but I think proper good ground is what he wants. Looking further ahead I’d like to take this horse up in trip. I might run him in this race and then the Yorkshire Hurdle. I know it’s a big step up from two miles to three miles but he ran well over two and a half miles last year. This run may just blow the cobwebs off and away we go. Why not try him a race like that? If he doesn’t stay then we’ll come back in trip, if he does stay then bingo!

3:05 Kempton - Black Corton 9/4

Confirmed that he had done very well over the summer with a fluent success from the front at Newton Abbot earlier this month.

As he is only a novice over hurdles until the end of the month and appreciates good ground it makes sense to have a go here under a penalty before he switches to fences.

Black Corton is gradually learning to settle better in his races and is a nice prospect for the future.
