5.45 Wolverhampton – The
Perfect Show
He’s always shown plenty of speed so I don’t think dropping in trip to 5f will be a problem for him and he’s got a nice draw in stall one. It’s a weak, winnable race and he has to have a good chance in this and will be in the shake up.

6.15 Wolverhampton – Penny
Dreadful
She’s fairly solid and tends to run her race. Her trainer Scott Dixon has his horses coming back into a bit of form now so that should give her a better chance. I’d like to think she can run a nice race and potentially be involved as well.

6.45 Wolverhampton –
Sakhee’s Gem
She’s a lot like Penny Dreadful in that she’s an honest filly and usually runs her race. I won on her a couple of starts back at Yarmouth and she ran well the last day at the same course. She’s back on the all-weather after those turf runs and needs to prove she’s as good on it, but I’d like to think she can be competitive in this.

7.15 Wolverhampton – NiblawiHe seems to have really turned the corner recently as he’s a horse that took a long time to get that first win. His confidence is up and I think that’s what you’ll need in a competitive race like this. He’s got a solid chance and is one I’m looking forward to.
★★★★☆
7.45 Wolverhampton – Starshell
He’s one to put in your notebooks for next year as he’s a nice horse. He’s big and weak at the moment and he’ll be a nice horse when he’s filled out his frame.
★★☆☆☆
8.15 Wolverhampton – Zarawi
This isn’t a horse I’ve ridden before so isn’t one I know a great deal extra about. He’s got a bit to prove on what he’s done recently, but he didn’t run too badly at Brighton in August and if he comes back to that form then he could run alright.
★★★☆☆
8.45 Wolverhampton – Spirit Of Gondree
He is what he is and he ran well the last day when second at Kempton. He’s got a tricky draw in stall 13 of 13 in this so he’s going to need a drop of luck to repeat that here.
★★☆☆☆
9.15 Wolverhampton – Rowlestonerendezvu
I rode her in one of her maidens earlier this year and I thought she would’ve shown more than she has since. I don’t think she’s one to write off just yet albeit she’s been disappointing from my point of view as I thought she’d have gone forward. Fingers crossed she can show more here.

4:30 Market Rasen – Suggestion
It will be a tough ask for Suggestion to win with a penalty and Adam has also now lost his 3lb claim which means in effect he has a 10lb penalty – he is only fourth in the betting as a result, despite winning nicely at Uttoxeter, and a good effort under top weigt giving 5 year olds 7lbs will show that he is the nice horse we believe he is
★★★☆☆
5:05 Market Rasen – Tara Time
Tara is a big price in her division but she is a decent mare and we are sure she will give a better account of herself than on her last run at Sedge where she was a little buzzy.

American Grand National – Days Of Heaven 11/2
We’re all looking forward to seeing how he goes! It’s huge prize and there are only eight runners so there’s lots of money on offer. I’ve always had an idea that this horse would be really suited to America and in the spring we really set about it to make sure he was ready in time. He went to Doncaster Sales in May and I recommended that he be bought to go to the States so Jill Johnson bought him and I hope it proves a shrewd purchase. We ran Hunt Ball in the race last year and he was not the right type of animal for it as you need a 2m4f horse with a bit of pace who likes fast ground – which he’ll get there! He’s travelled well, is eating and drinking well and it’s a helluva prize that’s worth having a crack at so we’re hopeful of a good run under Nico.
★★★☆☆
2:10 Market Rasen – Clemency 8/1
She has pulled up the last twice but we got her examined straight away and we found that she was suffering a sort of irregular heartbeat but it hasn’t affected her since and she has been working away very nicely. To be honest, I just don’t know what it was all about but she’s had a nice summer break and has done nothing wrong since returning and a 2m4f Mares Handicap is precisely what she wants so I expect her to go very well. She’s in good shape.

2:05 Stratford - May Hay
I was second on her last time and she ran a decent race
that day around this course. We probably have Midnight Jazz to beat but I think
we have a good chance.
★★★★☆
2:40 Stratford – Tajseer
He won the time before last. We probably have Angus
Glens to beat but anything Gordon sends over you’ve got to give a good chance
to. He runs two in the race so hopefully he’s put me on the right one. Angus
Glens does look the one to beat on form.
★★★★☆
3:15 Stratford – Mountain King
He won at Perth last time. It probably wasn’t the
greatest of races but the handicapper hasn’t over-reacted. He has some decent
bits of form. It looks a decent little race and Mont Royale is probably the one
to beat but Mountain King must have a good chance. He’s probably my best ride
of the day.

Dan Skelton
3:20 Market Rasen – L’Aigle Royal
He looks a very genuine horse, I really like his
attitude, and he jumps nicely. I don’t know how well handicapped he is but he
goes there with a chance. He’s on good form at home, he’s fit and he looks
great.
★★★★☆
3:55 Market Rasen – Blue Heron
He’s had a year off and now goes chasing. I have done
plenty with him at home, both jumping and exercise, but he’s not one you can go
and blast at home so I do think there’s significant improvement in him. You saw
that with Value At Risk; I said there would be a lot of improvement in him and
there is and this horse I feel is the same. Viens Chercher was second to Welsh
Shadow in a Listed race last year so is a very decent opponent for Blue Heron
given he’s had a year off. Even though Blue Heron is superior on the ratings
you have to be very respectful of Viens Chercher.
★★★★☆
4:10 Ffos Las – Welsh Shadow
I hope he wins; I think he can. He’s in very good form.
Two miles around Ffos Las won’t be a problem but obviously he stays very well.
I’m glad to see a little rain arriving overnight and into the morning. He’s a
high class horse, who won two nice novice hurdles last season before running
well at the Cheltenham Festival. This will be his last run before we go
chasing.

4:05 Ascot – Zhui Feng
He’s not a bad little horse and has been a bit unlucky.
I won on him at Goodwood and the form was franked. He then ran a couple of
races where things didn’t work out for him. He was drawn on the wrong side in
The Cambridgeshire and saw too much daylight that day. He could run well at a
big price. He’s overpriced. I think a mile is his best trip. Morando was very
impressive last time. Last year I was riding Here Comes When in Group Ones and
he wasn’t running too bad. So it would be no surprise if a horse like him,
dropping back into handicap company, could run well. He’s a hold up horse and I
think that style suits the straight course at Ascot well.

7:45 Wolverhampton – Bahar
BAHAR is an unraced colt by top American
sire First Defence so will have no problem handling the artificial surface at
Wolverhampton in the Maiden at 7:15 and this 150,000euros purchase is a late
maturing type who came from the Breeze Up Sales in France but is ready for a
run now and has been showing me all the right signs of late. It doesn’t look
the strongest of races and the ones that have run have shown very modest form
so I wouldn’t be surprised if it went to a newcomer and I really fancy him to
go very close. I certainly wouldn’t put you
off having a few quid on him.

1:45 Catterick – Vaulted 5/2
I'd love to see Vaulted win her first race in the toteplacepot
Median Auction Maiden Stakes. It's always nice to get their head in front at two before putting
them away for the winter. She's a nice filly and we've tried to find the
weakest race we can to allow her to win and opted for this one.
★★★★☆
4:05 Catterick – Energia Fox
Energia Fox
hasn't got the ideal draw in 12 for the toteexacta
Handicap which is frustrating as I feel she's now ready to
win a race. She'll need luck from there but I do feel she's on the cusp of
returning to winning ways so hopefully she'll get it.
