14/10/16 Straight From The Trainers Mouth

Ger Lyons

5:25 Dundalk – Room To Roam 15/8
ROOM TO ROAM goes in the first race but it was a last minute decision as we were planning on going on turf and over a mile. I changed my mind late as I felt this was winnable and put blinkers on him to sharpen him up. He will want further but hopefully he can cope tonight and break his maiden.

8:05 Dundalk – Elusive Heights 11/4
The listed race is one we won a few years ago with OBLITERATOR and had it taken off us in the stewards room so I feel it's one that owes us! I run two here and while Colin has chosen ELUSIVE HEIGHTS, no three year old has officially won this race before. He ran a cracker here the last day and I feel the last 150yds caught him out that night. The trip is our main concern tonight but hopefully he can go one better.
★★★★
8:05 Dundalk – Tennessee Wildcat 7/1
TENNESSEE WILDCAT just never settled or got any cover here the last night so we can write that run off. He's well drawn here tonight and hopefully Gary can ride a race on him as he likes to be ridden cold, arriving late on a the scene. Hopefully both can run well and that one can get his head in front and finish our season on a high note.

Hugo Palmer

1:45 Maisons-Laffitte – Koropick 7/4

This is basically an English race, so at least we can all get a decent handle on the form. And I think my colt is in with a winning chance.

I thought he was going to finish nearer last than first at one point in the Middle Park last time but he stuck on really well in the closing stages. That was a step forward from his Kempton second and all the more meritorious given the ground was quick and ideally he wants to get his toe in.

I don't think they have had any rain at the course for a while but they have been watering, so I hope the ground is okay. This has been the obvious target for him since Newmarket.

The home team are headed by Sans Equivoque, who won a Group 3 here last time from King Of Spades and Fas, who both re-oppose, but that form doesn't look overly-strong. And Boos was beaten by my Afandem in a modest Listed race at Vichy in July.

Delectation was undeniably impressive when winning at Ayr last time and rates a big danger but, for all her potential, I am not sure about the strength of that form, as the runner-up was well beaten next time.

Charlie (Fellowes) thinks a lot of his horse Moonlit Show, who won a Listed race at Fairyhouse last time, but I just wonder whether she got a soft lead there, while we know Nations Alexander is capable in this grade. I am hopeful.

Nigel Twiston-Davies

2.25 Wincanton – Moonday Sun 3/1
Partnered by Gavin Sheehan. A winner of 3 of his last 4 starts, he's up 7lbs for the latest at Towcester, but is progressive at present and can cope with the rise. Although only meeting three rivals here, this is arguably the most competitive event he's been in and he will have to be at his best, but is capable of following up.
