25/11/16 Straight From The Trainers Mouth

Nigel Twiston-Davies
2.00 Doncaster- Deputy Commander 3/1
Makes his chasing debut, something we've been looking forward to. A winner over hurdles at Uttoxeter over 2m 4f two outings ago, he then ran a good race to be 3rd under a 7lb rise at Ludlow in April. Up to 3m here will suit and his mark of 116 looks competitive. Jamie Bargary rides and a good run expected.

2.10 Newbury – Balloptic 2/1
Had a fall at the last when going for a five timer at Wethetby four weeks ago, but his form is solid enough to expect him to go very close here. He enjoys this trip and conditions suit, so another good run expected in what looks a very good field. Ryan Hatch rides.

2.45 Newbury  - Splash Of Ginge 10/1
Has had the fourth place runs so far this season, showing signs of coming back to form. Another 2lb respite from the handicapper will help too and he looks to have good each way hopes from this mark. Ryan aboard.

Alan King
12.20 Doncaster The Unit 10/11
A mark of 120 for The Unit is reasonable enough so he runs in the novices’ handicap hurdle. I was pleased with his run at Kempton, where he stayed on well, and now that he is settling that much better he should appreciate going up in trip here. He’s run well at Town Moor before.
★★★★☆
12.30 Newbury Hidden Cargo 33/1
Hidden Cargo having his first run over jumps in the opening maiden hurdle. He was ready to run in a bumper last spring but developed a bad scope which meant we had to put him away, but it was probably a blessing in disguise as he has thrived for that extra bit of time. He finished third in his first bumper at Newbury three weeks ago, and he is a youngster whom we like and is ready to kick-start his hurdling career.
★★★☆☆
1.05 Newbury Winner Massagot 8/1
Winner Massagot won a big handicap hurdle at Ascot this time last year, but he cracked his pelvis two races later so we are looking forward to him returning to battle in the Fulke Walwyn Trophy, which will be his chasing debut. He has been very good over fences and schooled on Monday, and it’s a lovely track at which to start him off
★★★
3.10 Doncaster Handsome Sam 5/1
Handsome Sam goes for the staying handicap hurdle qualifier. He lost his way after winning first time out last season, but I’ve been happy with him this autumn and, though the plan is to go chasing, we are starting him back over hurdles.
★★★☆☆
3.20 Newbury Board Of Trade 14/1
He took a heavy fall at Cheltenham but when schooling on Monday showed no effects from that, and this step up in trip should suit him.
★★★☆☆
3.50 Newbury Chocala 7/1
he ran well in three races on the Flat midsummer and with a bit of cut in the ground this looks the perfect place to start back.

Malcom Jefferson
1.05 Newbury Double Ws 4/1
Double W’s has won his first two novice chases well and we have been delighted with him so far. There are not a lot of races to choose from and we saw this race a while ago and have had it in mind for him. The course should suit him and providing the ground is not tacky he will handle most conditions very well. He has to give weight away to some potentially smart rivals but we think he will give a good account of himself. We will hopefully learn more tomorrow about where we will be heading in spring.
★★★★☆

Mark Usher
4:45 Wolverhampton – Misu Pete 10/1
Today we revert back to six furlongs with Misu Pete in the divided Handicap at Wolverhampton’s Twilight Meeting; he has won over six and there are significantly more opportunities over six than seven, which is part of the rationale behind going back in trip;he is well handicapped having won off three pounds higher and has run competitively and well off more than this, the key this evening down in trip being a strong pace and a truly run race throughout; if he gets that he should run decently and has an each way chance at around 10/1

Martin Keighley
12:30 Newbury – Somewhere To Be 100/1
Newbury today with Somewhere To Be debuting over hurdles for Zara Tindall under Champion Jockey Richard Johnson.  He's a big horse and a baby but unsurprisingly has schooled well at home having done plenty with Zara and so will hopefully run well today.  The softer ground is a question mark and it's a typical red hot Newbury Novice Hurdle but he has to start somewhere and I think the track will suit.
