30/09/16 Straight From The Trainers Mouth

Hugo Palmer

19:20, Newcastle - Cool Team 13/2

He was very lazy in the spring so when I told his Hong-Kong based owners this they said "geld him". So we did. He is a very good-looking individual who has been working nicely with Tamayef, who won here last week. I think this race will possibly take more winning than Tamayef's, but hopefully he will go well.
★★★☆☆
19:50, Newcastle – Castleacre 7/4

She is beautifully bred, by Exceed And Excel out of a mare who I backed for the Guineas and Oaks after she won the Nell Gwyn. She didn't win me any money as she only finished fourth at Newmarket and Epsom but I am excited to be training one of her daughters.

She is not very big and quite light and will be a better filly next year, but she goes nicely and is speedy and hopefully she should be able to win her maiden.

The normal caveat applies to my two-year-olds on their debuts, though, and she won't be given a hard time first time up.
★★★★

Roger Charlton

2:35 Ascot – Kummiya 10/1
Kummiya ran well last time at Newmarket, but just didn’t quite get home over 10f. His best form is back at a mile and hopefully the good ground of Ascot should suit him well. It is a classified race and therefore like a few of them, he is a couple of pounds wrong, given they all carry the same weight, but Kieran’s 3lbs helps the matter a little
★★★☆☆

Charlie Longsdon

5:35 Gowran Park – Snow Leopardess 4/1
I am about to head off to Gowran Park now to see how Snow Leopardess runs against the best of the Irish. It is a bit of a challenge taking them on in their back yard, but on her form, she has to have a solid each way chance. Her run at Aintree when fifth was a great performance and with the help of Jamie Codd I hope she can do us all proud.
★★★★

David Pipe (Chester Barnes)

4:00 Fontwell – Purple N Gold 13/2
He should love the good ground and is not unfeasibly treated from a handicap mark of 132 having won from 130 in the past.  He should be thereabouts under stable jockey Tom Scudamore.
★★★★

Nick Alexander

3:00 Hexham – Bertalus 6/1
Bertalus makes his debut over fences, a sighting shot really at this time of year as I expect him to come into his own over 3m on a flatter track but he is fit and well and it is time to get the ball rolling.
