14/11/14

Richard Fahey
Muhaarib Al Emarat
11:55 Lingfield
The son of Approve got off the mark at Windsor last month and is making his first start on the all weather here and remains in good order.
★★★☆☆

Michael Bell
By Jupiter
12:55 Lingfield
She looked in good form this morning in her work and she certainly deserves to get a bracket by her name after some consistent efforts.
★★★☆☆

David Pipe
Molo
1:05 Newcastle
Conor O'Farrell makes the long trip north to partner Molo and Border Breaker. Molo was successful in a mares' bumper on good/soft ground at the end of May
★★★★☆

Nick Alexander
Presently Tipsy
1.05 Newcastle
Presently Tipsy makes her hurdling debut, 16 run, Lucy rides and the ground is good to soft with good places. She has schooled with plenty of enthusiasm and will hopefully run a nice race
★★★☆☆

Nigel Twiston-Davies
Benbens
1:15 Cheltenham
Benbens was 4th of 15 at Chepstow a month ago over 3m from a mark of 134 and from that mark again here and a further furlong, should have a serious each way chance. He won at Wincanton three outings ago over the same trip and soft ground, so conditions won't be an issue. Stephen Clements rides in this amateurs race and the pair can go close.
★★★★☆

Kim Bailey
Charingworth
1:15 Cheltenham
Cheltenham we love the place but it certainly has not been lucky for me over the last 14 years.. No winners. Can Charingworth break that record..
He certainly deserves to as he has been second on both his starts there and last time he was second to the recently disqualified Badger Beer Chase winner The Young Master.
★★★★☆

David Pipe
Monetaire
1:50 Cheltenham
Monetaire and Dell' Arca are both making their seasonal debuts with the former also making his first start for the stable having shown some fair form in France.
★★★☆☆

Barry Gerraghty
Festive Affair
1 50 Cheltenham
I start the day on FESTIVE AFFAIR for Jonjo in the two-mile Paddy Power Handicap Chase and he’s another that I’ll be riding for the first time. Having looked over his form it is apparent that he took time to find himself last season but won well over two miles at Newbury in January and was given a debut mark of 134 in the two mile five furlong Rewards4Racing Novices’ Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. He didn’t quite last at that first attempt at the trip having led at the eleventh. He has been on the pace in his races but it’s possible that he’ll have relaxed a bit more which will give him a better chance of getting it right this season.
★★☆☆☆

Nigel Twiston-Davies
Astracad
1:50 Cheltenham
Astracad enjoys himself round here and a running on fourth place to Johns Spirit last time was a good run. Down a pound for that he should again be thereabouts and will be staying on at the end. Sam Twiston-Davies aboard.
★★★★☆

Nigel Twiston-Davies
Hollow Blue Sky
1:50 Cheltenham
Hollow Blue Sky in this with Ryan Hatch riding and taking off 5lbs. An improving sort, the ground could be the key for him today despite a drop back in trip from 2 1/2 to 2m. He's down a pound from his last run when 3rd at Wincanton, but a good run is expected and he looks to have every chance of getting in the shake up.
★★★☆☆

David Pipe
Dell’ Arca
2:25 Cheltenham
Dell' Arca was a high class hurdler last term with a rating of 145 and a clear round of jumping will put him right in the picture.
★★★☆

Malcom Jefferson
Urban Hymn
2.25 Cheltenham
Today Urban Hymn has come to Cheltenham to run in a hot novice chase. He steps up in trip which will suit and the ground will be fine. He is a more settled horse this year so we will not be getting involved in any mad early pace! It will tell us if he will playing with the big boys this year.
★★☆☆☆

Nigel Twiston-Davies
Splash Of Ginge
2:25 Cheltenham
Splash Of Ginge won here at the last meeting in nice style. He meets some good sorts here and gives 8lbs to all but one of his rivals, but there is plenty of improvement to come and he may well be up to conceding the weight. Again, ground won't be an issue having won on heavy and he looks to have a solid chance in an intriguing contest. Sam rides.
★★★★☆

Richard Fahey
Summerinthecity
2:40 Lingfield
Summerinthecity lines up in division one of the Unibet Handicap. The gelded son of Indian Ridge suffered an injury at York in May and this is his first start back.
★★★☆☆

Simon Dow
Brocklebank
2 40 Lingfield
Brocklebank has been entered on Friday at Lingfield, in the 14.40 Ladbrokes Handicap, over 1m, Jack Duern has been booked to ride. This Diamond Green gelding has struggled to get a win to his name this year after being given a large hike in the weights after finishing second in two Class 2 handicaps, on the all weather, at the beginning of the year. He ran a nice race on his penultimate start at Epsom when powering home in the last furlong and was unlucky not to be placed. Last time out at Kempton he was held up with his customary tactics. He travelled well enough under Jack Duern and still had every chance turning for home. He was patiently ridden and got a nice run up the inside rail before getting short of room two furlongs from home. When his chance had gone he was given an easy time of things and came out of the race very well. It was far from a bad run and we are hoping that he is coming back to some level of form.
★★★☆☆

Nick Alexander
Bertie Milan
2 50 Newcastle
Bertie Milan will run in the 2.50 assuming they get the forecast rain, 5 run and Lucy rides, he should progress from his seasonal debut two weeks ago.
★★☆☆☆

Barry Gerraghty
Parlour Games
3 00 Cheltenham
The most interesting of the trio is PARLOUR GAMES in the Grade 2 Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle over two miles and five furlongs.
I’ve had a good bit of success this season for his trainer, John Ferguson, and this one was a rare reversal when I rode him at Kempton three weeks ago.
We were travelling very well turning for home in a listed two-mile novice hurdle but he could only stay on at one pace and was beaten four lengths by Blue Heron.
He’d been off for two and a half months and he gave a very heavy blow afterwards and in hindsight he was probably in need of the run.
John knows exactly where he stands with his jumpers and I’m certain that Parlour Games will be much more tuned up for this. There are another couple of plus points, firstly the ground which should be decent – and I think he wants that – second he’s moving up from two miles to two miles five.
Although this horse has pace, he also has stamina, too, and as a three-year-old on the flat won the mile and six Melrose Handicap at York. The extra trip should allow him to travel into the race and produce his pace up the hill. I think there’s plenty to like about his chances and a hood for the first time should help him relax.
★★★☆☆

Nigel Twiston-Davies
Blacklion
3:00 Cheltenham
Blaklion is unbeaten in four rules contests, two bumpers and two novice hurdles and looks the sort to go from strength to strength. His Chepstow win last time saw him staying on strongly in the soft ground and he should be doing the same again up the hill here. A strong chance again, Jamie Moore rides.
★★★★★

Simon Dow
Presumido
3 15 Lingfield
Presumido is due to run on the same card, in the 15.15 Unibet Handicap, over 6f, Seb Sanders has been booked to ride. This Iffraaj gelding is a three time winner and was last seen when running at Lingfield. He broke well but was soon steadied towards the rear by Tommy Harrigan. He travelled well and got in to a nice rhythm during the middle part of the race. Turning for home he was still plum last and looked to have it all to do. He picked up really well between the two and the one pole but his run seemed to peter out in the last furlong. He has come out of that race in good form and is training nicely at home. He is on a career high mark but we are hoping that he can run a creditable race once again.
★★★☆☆

David Pipe
Boarder Breaker
3:25 Newcastle
Border Breaker was an Irish point-to-point winner on good/yielding. They both look promising sorts and are a nice couple of mounts for Conor.
★★★☆☆

Willie Mullins
Uncle Junior
3 35 Cheltenham
Uncle Junior (Patrick) goes for the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase over 3m 7f. He won this race in 2011 and 2011 and was second here lastyear. He really loves the track and this is his distance. The ground willsuit and we are hoping for another big run.
★★★★☆

Simon Dow
Keep Kicking
3 50 Lingfield
Keep Kicking is also due to run at Lingfield on Friday. He is entered in the 15.50 32red.com
Apprentice Handicap, over 1m 5f, Tommy Harrigan takes the ride. This Tiger Hill gelding got two wins on the board for the yard at the beginning of the year but has been finding things tougher of late. Last time out at Wolverhampton he finished closer to last than first. He broke well enough and was settled in to mid division by Seb Sanders. He lobbed along nicely for most of the race but seemed to struggle to keep tabs on the field when they started to quicken, three from home. He is a big galloping type of horse that is probably better suited to a longer trip as he doesn't seem to have the speed for races over 1m 4f. His is going well and appears in good form and we are hoping that extra furlong will help, despite his best form being over 2m.
★★☆☆☆

Richard Fahey
Pin Up
4:00 Wolvehrampton
The daughter of Lookin At Lucky ran a blinder on debut, beaten only a short-head into second, over course and distance last month and we’re hoping she can go one better here.
★★★★☆

David Pipe
Knight Of Noir
4:05 Cheltenham
I bet Tom Scudamore would dearly love to win on Knight Of Noir in the 4.05pm race. It is named the Michael Scudamore Memorial in memory of his grandfather - I would imagine it will be a bit like David trying to win his father's race at the Festival every year.
★★★☆☆

Barry Gerraghty
Cup Final
4 05 Cheltenham
Nicky Henderson has never really had a clear run with CUP FINAL who I ride for the first time in the two miles and five furlong Michael Scudamore Intermediate Handicap Hurdle.
He showed potential in his three runs last season when the best was probably his first when he finished four lengths second to Irving at Taunton. He was beaten by the same horse next time in a Grade 2 and his only other run was in the Neptune at Cheltenham in March so taking in a Class 3 handicap off a debut rating of 125 doesn’t look an impossible task by any means. In fact, this could be a good starting point to make up for lost time.
★★★★☆

Richard Fahey
Woofie
4:30 Wolverhampton
A strapping son of Duke Of Marmalade, he just took a while to come to himself this year and made his debut at Ayr last month over a mile. Conditions were testing that day and we’ll see how he gets on dropping down in trip on the Tapeta. He’ll be a nice three-year-old.
★★★☆☆

Roger Charlton
Star Fire
5 00 Wolverhampton
She was unlucky to be brought down first time at Windsor and she took a bit of time to get over that. She ran well at Kempton with Field Game and Fligaz both franking the form since. The ground at Nottingham was very soft and having showed up well, she faded in the last furlong and a half. She ran well at Wolverhampton to be 3rd to an odds on shot, and interestingly the second runs at Lingfield this afternoon. She has been rated 61, which I hope is fair and gives her a chance, but she needs to overcome the draw of 8, which is not ideal at Wolverhampton.
★★★☆☆

Mark Usher
Reginald Claude
6:30 Wolverhampton
We all know that they need to go fast for Reginald Claude to get a good tow into the race and come late. He is slipping to a reasonable mark and should be winning soon.
★★★☆☆

Mark Usher
Littlecote Lady
6:30 Wolverhampton
She is a consistent filly and I’m sure she will not disgrace herself first time back, but she will come on for the run regardless.
★★★☆☆

Richard Fahey
Done Dreaming
6:30 Wolverhampton
The Diamond Green gelding was owned by Middleham Park Racing up until last August when he went through the ring at the DBS August Sale and was purchased by Richard. He’s had a fair break and is ready for a winter campaign on the all weather.
★★★☆☆

Julia Feilden
Avidly
7:30 Wolverhamton
Avidly looked like a winner at Kempton last week but threw her race away by not looking too enthusiastic. She has loads of ability but will need kidding along is she is to eventually win. She goes to Wolverhampton on Friday and, if in the mood, will run well.
