05/03/17 Some Nice Winners Yesterday From SFTTM

3.45 Lingfield Encore dOr 6/1 - WON @ 5/2
He ran really well at Wolverhampton last time from a tricky draw. He finishes his races off well and from stall one in this race he should get an ideal trip. He’s a smart sprinter who’s still on the up.
★★★☆☆
 4:20 Lingfield Second Thought 10/11 - WON @ 13/8
I’m not riding in this race but it looks a fascinating contest. Sutter County is interesting stepping up in trip and I know Volatile is in good order as I rode him work the other day. He’s worthy of a go in a race like this and I think he’ll run big. The horse to beat though is Second Thought.
★★★★★
 2.05 Newbury Just A Par 12/1 - WON @ 14/1
This is prep for the Grand National which has been his aim all season. He found the track a bit sharp for him last time at Musselburgh and needs much quicker ground than he is going to get at Newbury.
★★☆☆☆
 2.25 Doncaster San Benedeto 2/1 -  WON @ 100/30
Won nicely at Musselburgh last time on good ground dropping back to two miles which suits him very well as he has plenty of speed. While San Benedeto is in form he is probably handicapped up to the hilt now. He goes here rather than Cheltenham and the less rain they get at Doncaster the better his chance in a race with decent prize money.
★★★☆☆
 4.25 Newbury Warriors Tale 11/2 - WON @ 5/2
Can be a bit in and out but has run some of his best races for us at Newbury, a course which seems to play to his strengths. He goes in the ground, the trip looks perfect for him and I'd say he is fairly handicapped. Good chance.
★★★★☆
3.25 Kelso Mount Mews 7/2 - WON @ 11/8
It is a small but select field and he will need to improve to win but we like him a lot and he is in good form at home. My only concern would be that he has never encountered ground that soft before so he will need to handle it.
★★★★☆
1.30 Newbury Spice Fair 12/1 - 2nd @ 10/1
We have decided to put Paddy Brennan up, for whom he ran well at Cheltenham and Taunton; the galloping, open track with the long straight (and where he has run well in the past in good quality flat handicaps) will suit him perfectly and no horses will deserve success more.
★★★☆☆
 2.50 Kelso Clan Legend 5/1- WON @ 100/30
My fault I suppose for encouraging the racecourse to keep upgrading the race but we go there with a horse that I hope still has plenty to offer over fences, whilst we may not see that until he steps up in trip but there are obvious attractions in running tomorrow and we are popping a tongue tie on
★★★☆☆
4.35 Kelso The Orange Rogue 2/1 - WON @ 11/4
He should go well if he takes to the track and it was a difficult call coming here rather than waiting for Newcastle on Tuesday where he is a course & distance winner, he will only line up if the forecast rain turns the ground heavy.
★★★★☆
