02/01/17 Straight rom The Trainers Mouth

Nick Alexander
1.00 Ayr Bertalus 22/1
He has been disappointing this season since losing his confidence over fences, we are putting a visor on for the first time to concentrate his mind and hopefully stop him worrying about things, he has been in great form at home so we are hoping for much better.
★☆☆☆
1.30 Ayr Massinis Lady 11/2
If she can build on her recent second at the track she shouldn’t be far away, Brian Harding rides.
★★★★☆
2.00 Ayr The Orange Rogue 6/1
Conditions should suit The Orange Rogue in the 2pm, he’s been in good form and will have come on for his seasonal debut at Newcastle over an inadequate trip
★★★★☆
3.00 Ayr Clan Chief 4/1
I suspect he wants better ground but he won a bumper round here on heavy and is well handicapped as and when all clicks into place.
★★★☆☆

David Pipe
1.20 Plumpton Starchitect 5/1
I thought Starchitect ran an encouraging first race over fences when third in a hot looking contest at Bangor last time and with a clean round of jumping he should go very close.
★★★★☆
2.50 Plumpton Top Wood 18/1
Top Wood has to shoulder top weight in the Sussex National but he has a touch of class and has been unlucky in some of the best staying handicap chases.  If he manages to avoid trouble in running I could see him surprising a few people.
★★★★☆

Nigel Twiston Davies
12:50 Plumpton – Count Meribel 9/2
A second in a bumper two outings ago gave promise for his hurdles debut last time at Towcester and a good 3rd of 11 showed he's going in the right direction. With that experience behind him  he looks sure to have a say in this and can go close again. Another good run expected.
★★★★☆
