Mutabhir is a nice little horse that’s done well for Richard Phillips and I’m looking forward to riding him in the opener (12.30pm).He’s been running consistently and should have a good chance in an open-looking race.

It’s never easy when you’ve got to give weight away, but hopefully there’s still improvement to come from New Member in the handicap hurdle (1.00pm). Giving Tim Vaughan’s Wistari Rocks a stone and a half is certainly not going to be an easy task, though.

3.00 Huntingdon Epic Ethel 12/1

I rode Epic Ethel to victory at Worcester last year and am looking forward to reuniting with her in the Listed mares’ bumper (3.00pm).

She’s been through the sales and is now with Neil King.

She’s been off the track since June, so hopefully she has improved over the summer. Whatever happens on Sunday, she could be one to keep an eye on.

12.20 Kelso Mount Mews 8/11

Mount Mews won both his bumpers well and has done well for another summer at grass. He schools well and seems in good form. The only (and I mean only) question mark is the trip as he may want further.

Kelka has been very consistent and won nicely last time at Hexham. She should be suited by the step up in trip on an easier track so hopefully she can give the penalty away.

12.40 Fairyhouse Bapaume 7/1

Bapaume (Ruby) has his first run for us in the 3YO hurdle over 2 miles. He won a hurdle race in France last April but we don’t know where he sits with the Irish juveniles. He jumps well and we think he will like this track.

1.10 Fairyhouse Airlie Beach 8/1

Airlie Beach (Danny Mullins) keeps improving. We didn’t think at the start of the summer that she would be grade one class but she has been a revelation. She too has her chance here.

Penhill (Ruby) has improved with every run except for a blip in Killarney. This dry ground will be in his favour and he should go well.

Saturnas (Paul) was impressive when winning a maiden hurdle in Naas last month. Depending on how much he has improved he might not be far away today

1.40 Fairyhouse Vroum Vroum Mag 4/5

Vroum Vroum Mag (Ruby) is a very adaptable mare over hurdles and fences. She steps in here to deputise for Faugheen and will be competitive. She will have no problem with the ground

Whiteout (Danny Mullins) surprised us when winning a grade one at Punchestown and is entitled to take her chance here. Hopefully she will make the frame and gain more grade one black type.

Shaneshill (Paul) may have needed the race at Navan last time and hopefully that will have put him right for today.

Sempre Medici (Ruby) is a course and distance winner but will find it tough having to give lumps of weight away all round. However, he is hard to place so he will take his chance.

Upazo (Paul) is a three-time winner around here and that puts him in with a great chance. Hopefully, he will put his disappointing run over fences at Cork last time behind him.

3.40 Fairyhouse Getabird 11/10

Getabird (Patrick) makes his racecourse debut in the bumper. He is a nice big chasing type who has won a point to point. It is a very hot race but he has been working well and will go on the ground.
